Background

The Uplyme and Lyme Regis Club email was formed in 1935 by the amalgamation of the Lyme Regis Club, formed in 1862, and the Uplyme Club, formed in 1877.

The cricket club came about in the village because local sportsmen were anxious to keep the game alive in the area, a spirit encapsulated in the purpose of the club today stated as :-

  • To arrange cricket matches and organize teams of members

  • To promote the provision and maintenance of cricket facilities at the King George V Playing Field

  • To organize social activities associated with cricket

  • To foster cricket in Uplyme and Lyme Regis

The club moved to the glebe field, near the Talbot Arms in Uplyme, now the King George V Field, at the end of the nineteenth century.

The cricket ground is located on the B3165, off the A35, close to the centre of Uplyme, behind the Village Hall, on the Lyme Regis road - map
